this morning i awoke to yet another overcast, grey day and it reminded me of travis, who recently flew out from chicago to santa monica for two days to take surfing lessons. the whole time he was here the skies were grey and overcast. naturally, the day after he left the sun came out and shone for days on end. i felt so bad for him that he missed it, but he had a blast anyway. his lessons were a success, and the two days i spent photographing his lessons were very wet, sandy and a ton of fun!
his instructor called him “dude” all day, and though he had a few spills…
he got the hang of it very quickly.
i know this is a bit of a departure from my usual baby and family photography, but i’m glad travis contacted me. it’s always fun to capture new and exciting moments for my clients.

Very cool! One question — how’d you get the shots? Did you use a long lens?
karyn says
yes, i shoot with canon equipment and i used the canon 70-200 lens, plus i went into the water (in jeans no less) up to my waist!!!

Great shots & also great form on the board!
Karyn – if you get a sec, I’d love to hear your thoughts on our new ‘Hat of the Month Club’ here: http://www.babymelons.com/pages/hat-of-the-month-club
We’re marketing the ‘club’ to photographers, and would love to hear what you think!
Thanks,
Tom
