family photography in santa monica | surf’s up!
this morning i awoke to yet another overcast, grey day and it reminded me of travis, who recently flew out from chicago to santa monica for two days to take surfing lessons. the whole time he was here the skies were grey and overcast. naturally, the day after he left the sun came out and shone for days on end. i felt so bad for him that he missed it, but he had a blast anyway. his lessons were a success, and the two days i spent photographing his lessons were very wet, sandy and a ton of fun!

his instructor called him “dude” all day, and though he had a few spills…

he got the hang of it very quickly.

i know this is a bit of a departure from my usual baby and family photography, but i’m glad travis contacted me. it’s always fun to capture new and exciting moments for my clients.

baby photography in santa monica | kate, john and austin
whew, it’s been a very busy week!! i had several shoots and thus a ton of editing to do. here are a few pics of a really lovely young family i photographed the other day who are moving to newport, rhode island this month. they’ve been living in santa monica and we did their photographs at the bluffs in palisades park, santa monica.
look at the way austin montana’s eyes sparkle at 2-1/2 months old, its like pure sweetness!
i have to confess that i have a soft spot for dad’s and their babies. perhaps the disparity in size?

austin’s mom, kate, really knows how to make him smile!
now how can a baby this young appear to look so bored? have you ever? babies can get the greatest expressions and my goal is to capture as many as i can.
good luck in your new home kate, john and austin montana.
